Ormond Valley Apiaries

Ormond Valley Apiaries are local beekeepers that bring honey to the Market each week.
Mark Mazurik got into bee keeping in 1976 when he was 14 years old.  His mother bought him a package of bees and asked him to put them in a hive.  He painted the inside and outside of the hive box and when he got home from school he read the instructions on how to put the bees in the hive... unfortunately he was a little scared and in the process of spraying the bees so that they would calm down and not fly away when transferring, he drown the bees. What a way to start- He killed his first hive.  A few days later they got a swarm of bees from a friend to put in the hive, but a couple of days later the bees swarmed from the hive.  He learned the hard way that you aren't supposed to paint the inside of the hive. But even though he had a rough start, Mark didn't give up. He's been keeping bees ever since sometimes up to 25 hives.  His hives are currently located in the hills above Liberty Lake and in Post Falls. Beekeeping is more than a hobby for Mark, but he does work a normal full time job also.
